Wal-Mart and Lennox Work Together to Improve Energy-Efficiency

Lennox High-Efficiency Rooftop Units Help Wal-Mart Achieve Sustainability Objectives

DALLAS, TX – March 15, 2007 – Lennox Industries Inc., (NYSE: LII) working together with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT) to help reduce energy usage and address key opportunities in environmental sustainability, has designed a new line of high-efficiency packaged rooftop units. Wal-Mart expects to start installing these units during the third quarter of 2007.

These high performance units feature efficiencies above 12.0 EER, as well as advanced airflow operation. Furthermore, Lennox has specifically designed these units to achieve a high level of energy-efficiency during part load operation, which typically accounts for a majority of the operating hours of the equipment. The product line’s energy-efficiency performance not only surpasses the current United States and Canadian government’s efficiency requirements for commercial HVAC equipment, but is also above the stricter energy-efficiency standards set to take effect in these countries over the next few years.

“Reducing energy usage is an essential part of our sustainability initiatives and these new, cutting-edge, high-efficiency units will help us meet those goals,” said Jim McClendon, Chief Engineer, Prototype and New Format Development, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. “As the 2006 Vendor of the Year award winner, we were confident that Lennox was up to the task of helping us meet this sustainability objective. They have definitely delivered an outstanding new rooftop unit.”

In addition to helping Wal-Mart reduce energy usage, these new units also provide an excellent environment for customers and associates through great comfort control and indoor air quality capabilities. An intelligent unit control system reduces the total cost of ownership by speeding and simplifying maintenance and installation activities. This control system also aids in reliability by monitoring and controlling unit performance.

“We have a proud history of producing industry leading, high efficiency equipment that helps our customers reduce energy usage, improve comfort and indoor air quality and simplify installation and maintenance,” said Susan Herndon, Vice President, National and Global Accounts, Lennox Industries Inc. “This new rooftop unit product line builds on that strong tradition of leadership and provides a great solution for our customers.”
