Energy Efficiency Pairs with Intelligent Controls in Lennox’ New Energence™ Rooftop Unit Product Line

Dallas, TX – June 24, 2009 – This fall, Lennox will introduce the industry’s most energy-efficient line of light commercial rooftop units. The new Energence™ 3- to 50-ton rooftop unit product line combines ultra-efficient performance with an intelligent controls system to achieve the lowest total cost of ownership in its class.

Energence helps reduce utility bills, carbon footprints

The most energy-efficient light commercial rooftop unit*, the Energence rooftop unit exceeds the new federal regulation minimums** by up to 30 percent, with efficiency ratings up to 17.0 SEER and 12.8 EER. Designed to help buildings qualify for the most LEED® points, the ENERGY STAR® qualified Energence line also has the most models that surpass the Consortium for Energy Efficiency’s (CEE) 2010 Tier 2 levels for rebates.

Energence rooftop units are also designed to help reduce a business’ carbon footprint. Replacing just one existing rooftop unit with an Energence rooftop unit can reduce carbon emissions equivalent to removing two vehicles from the road.†† Available features minimize blower power during economizer free-cooling mode, leading to even more energy savings. An optional blower belt auto tensioner helps deliver proper airflow and maximize belt life to help keep Energence rooftop units performing optimally.,

Verification = proof of performance

With its advanced Prodigy™ unit controller, the Energence RTU provides intelligent verification that the unit has been correctly set up and configured. The system records when service and maintenance are performed, displays real-time confirmation that the unit is operating optimally and even alters operation to avoid downtime while still keeping the space comfortable. An intuitive user interface makes it simple to retrieve these records.

The innovative controller and wiring setup also helps ensure reliability, comfort and maximum efficiency. For simplicity of field sensor or thermostat installation, the SmartWire™ system features color-coded and keyed connectors to help prevent incorrect wiring. It utilizes a standardized wire color scheme and clear labeling to help reduce labor hours during installation and service.

More comfort, more control

Every Energence rooftop unit is available with the patented Humiditrol® dehumidification system to remove moisture for optimal comfort, and certain models can be delivered with an enhanced Humiditrol system that removes more humidity than typical hot-gas reheat systems. Factory- or field-installed MERV 13 filters can enhance indoor air quality, and help buildings qualify for additional LEED credits, while foil-faced insulation is a standard feature to minimize airborne fibers and help improve indoor air quality. Certain models also feature up to four cooling stages to reduce temperature swings and increase comfort reliability.
