MSAV® supply fan delivers significant energy savings in light commercial rooftop units

Dallas, TX – (February 6, 2012) – Lennox’ industry-leading efficiency levels just got even greater—with the release of a factory-installed option for Energence 7.5- to 25-ton rooftop units. MSAV® (multi-stage air volume) supply fan technology helps systems to reduce energy use while still meeting comfort requirements.

By using a variable frequency drive and Lennox’ patent-pending control algorithms, this option allows the unit to lower airflow for a dramatic reduction of energy use in multiple modes of operation—including part-load cooling, heating, ventilation and free-cooling operation—resulting in ‘year round utility savings.

Lennox’ MSAV supply fan technology allows quick and easy startup of the unit, while also offering users the flexibility to customize airflow settings by making simple changes in the unit’s control system. Additional benefits include:

  • Occupied and unoccupied supply fan operational energy savings
  • Part-load (IEER) energy savings, with efficiency improvements up to 27%
  • Improved system reliability with soft starts, reducing (torque) wear and tear on major components such as fan motors, belts and bearings

  • Improved dehumidification performance
  • Advanced variable frequency drives
  • Complete factory integration, support and warranty, using a simple user interface and automatic bypass option
  • Utility rebate eligibility for higher IEER levels and/or having equipment installed with a variable-frequency drive
  • Code compliance to ASHRAE 90.1-2010 and California Title 24 requirements for single-zone VAV systems.

MSAV supply fan technology is available on Lennox’ Energence® (3- to 25-ton models) and Strategos® (10- to 20-ton models) rooftop units For more information about Lennox’ MSAV technology and to calculate estimated savings, visit www.lennoxcommercial.com/MSAV.
